How to make coffee with an aeropress
Fill your kettle and set to boil.
Weigh out whole bean coffee.
Place the circular paper filter into the AeroPress's detachable cap.
Wet the filter so that it sticks in place, and this also helps remove any papery flavor from making its way into the coffee.
Put the plunging side of the AeroPress (the cylinder with the rubber end) into its counterpart. Aim to keep the plunger's edge just below the first number listed on the side.
Set the now connected apparatus on your scale with the flared end up and zero out the weight. The numbers should appear upside-down.
Add your ground coffee into the cylinder. Make sure your aim is true, so you avoid gunking up the ring around the top of your AeroPress.
Add twice the weight of water than ground coffee (e.g., for 16 grams coffee, add 32 grams water). Your water should be about 200 degrees F.
Thoroughly saturate coffee with water and then let sit for 30 seconds.
Then fill the rest of the cylinder up with hot water.
After a minute, stir the coffee to make sure all the grounds have had a chance to get soaked.
Tighten the cap into its grooves. Flip the AeroPress over, like a total badass, and onto the cup/vessel you'd like to catch your coffee. Push down slowly and watch the black gold begin to trickle into your vessel.
To clean up, just unscrew the cap and push the coffee grinds "puck" out. Easy peasy.
Pour into your favorite cup and enjoy!
